It used to be the case that, unless you were a criminal,
the police were respected; they were well intentioned people doing a difficult job to the best of their ability. They held anarchy at bay, and allowed upstanding members of the community to live lawful lives impervious to harm.
They served the people, they upheld the peace, were moderate and fair and they could be relied upon to provide quick, efficient service in times of crisis or emergency. Their time and the tax payer’s money was spent on preventing and investigating actual crimes.
They targeted criminals, not innocent members of the public exercising their inalienable rights.
The decline has been in process for decades. Standards dropped dramatically during the ’90s. Since the turn of the century, the police have gradually become agents of political enforcement.
Today, they aren’t interested in keeping the peace or preventing real crime. They have new priorities. They are enforcers of the Woke Agenda. ‘Hate speech’ has replaced sexual assault and murder as a serious crime and commands vast resources. ‘Racism’ is the new GBH. Being ‘anti’ or ‘phobic’ is considered far more deserving of their attention than crimes that used to be considered affrays.
They have become a sinister brand of Thought Police, and the motivation behind this change is the implementation of political agendas. Due to this, Covid restrictions have naturally become the main focus of their every day work, preventing lawful citizens from opening their businesses and earning a living, or going about their daily activities in peace.
During 2020 we saw the police taking very different approaches to ongoing protests. Those protesting against the lockdown measures often received brutal treatment, whilst other ‘political groups’ seemed to be supported by the police, and given a free pass.
Today’s police force are nothing better than corporate thugs, and their main objective is collecting revenue and silencing any opposition to the narrative of their political masters.
I live in a fairly small town, and have been here for more than a dozen years. I sometimes wondered if there was an active police station here because seeing a constable was so rare. If there was some sort of trouble, they would turn up, when called. That is how it should be.
Now, I usually see at least two of them patrolling in hi-vis jackets and a squad car or three, every time I take a walk to the shops. There hasn’t been a rise in levels of crime here though, they are just acting as the mask police.
Their role is to intimidate members of the public, and to acclimatise them to the presence of corporate authority on the streets. We run the risk of this being the military patrolling as well. Is this extra presence needed? Absolutely not.
The police still swear the same oath, they pledge to the monarch that they will uphold the peace, and will serve with ‘fairness, integrity, diligence and impartiality, upholding fundamental human rights and according equal respect to all people.’
They are betraying that oath.
Choose your side, because we the people do intend to hold you accountable for your actions.
